Overview
To protect our network, devices, and information, USB storage devices are blocked by default. This restriction is part of our organisation’s Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls and helps prevent malware infections, accidental data exposure, and unauthorised data transfer.
While USB storage is disabled for most users, exceptions can be granted for legitimate business requirements following review by IT Operations, the IT Manager, and if needed, the CIDO.
Why USB Storage Devices Are Blocked
USB devices pose several risks, including:
Malware introduction into the network
Unauthorised copying or removal of sensitive data
Non-compliance with data protection and security standards
Blocking USB storage significantly reduces these risks and helps safeguard organisational data.
